Dot is a fully digital accountancy firm, which means I use web-based tools to make managing your finances simple, efficient, and stress-free. I am always on the lookout for new software and trialling what is already on the market.

Whether you're tracking expenses, invoicing clients, or checking your cash flow, you can do it all from anywhere, at any time. And if you ever need a hand, I’m just a WhatsApp, call or email away.

Being digital isn’t just about convenience—it’s about giving you better insights into your business. With real-time data and automation, we help you make informed decisions quickly, so you can focus on growing your business instead of getting bogged down in the numbers.

My accountancy services

Tax returns

Typical reasons you might need to do a tax return:

  • You are self employed and have over £3k of untaxed sales.

  • You receive rental income from a second property.

  • You receive dividend income in excess of £500.

  • You receive over £500 in bank interest.

If you do need a tax return, get in touch and I can help.

Heard of making tax digital? This is the new quarterly reporting requirement for sole traders and landlords. Depending on your sales (turnover) from April 2026 you might need to report five times a year to HRMC and have third party software to support this reporting. Talk to me, I have the answers!

Sole trader accounts

As a sole trader (i.e. running a business but not operating as a limited company), you’re required to complete a tax return each year. On top of that, you can choose to have a full set of accounts prepared—this includes not just a profit and loss statement, but also a balance sheet.

I usually recommend having full accounts produced if you're VAT-registered or if your business has significant assets or liabilities. It can be really useful when applying for funding, valuing your business, or even getting a mortgage. At our first meeting, I’ll let you know whether I think you’d benefit from just a tax return or a tax return and full accounts.

Limited company accounts & Corporation Tax

Running a limited company comes with extra responsibilities, but don’t worry, I make it easy. I take care of your year-end accounts and Corporation Tax return (CT600), ensuring everything is accurate, compliant and submitted on time. No more number-crunching stress or last-minute panics!

I’ll also help you maximise tax efficiency, making sure you claim all allowable expenses and reliefs so you don’t pay a penny more than necessary. Plus, I keep you updated on the latest tax rules, so you always stay one step ahead. With me handling your accounts, you can focus on growing your business while I deal with the HMRC paperwork.

Payroll

Director only payrolls are completed by me and for larger or more complex payrolls I work with the esteemed Cornwall Payroll. We both use the latest software for completing your payroll ensuring no handing out of payslips or missed deadlines.

Bookkeeping

Bookkeeping is the process of recording and organising your financial transactions. Think of it as keeping a detailed diary of all the money coming in and going out of your business.

It includes things like:

  • Keeping track of sales and income.
  • Recording expenses (like rent, salaries, and supplies).
  • Ensuring bank accounts match up with records (bank reconciliation).
  • Categorising transactions properly so financial reports make sense.

While this might seem complicated, using software like Xero can make it much easier than it sounds. When it comes to bookkeeping, you have a few options:

  • Doing it yourself.
  • Hiring someone within your company.
  • Outsourcing to a bookkeeper.
In the early stages of your business, doing the bookkeeping yourself can be cost-effective. I’m happy to train you on how to use Xero and help you get started, often as part of your sign-up package. If you grow or simply don’t want to handle it yourself, I can also help you find an outsourced bookkeeper to work with.

Bookkeeping training

If you’re a start-up or new to Xero, I can provide bookkeeping training to help you save money and keep a close eye on your business figures.

We'll start by discussing which Xero licence is best for you, and whether a receipt-reading app (like Dext or Apron) would be useful for your setup. The training covers how to personalise your sales invoices, raise sales invoices, enter bills, and reconcile your bank transactions. I’ll also show you how to read your Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports, so you can really understand what’s going on in your business. This training is often included in your accounts fee—so there’s usually no extra cost. Ongoing Xero support is also part of the package. So if you ever get stuck or have a question, just drop me a message and I’ll sort it out for you.

Cashflow and management accounts

I offer additional support with managing cash flow, creating budgets, and providing monthly or quarterly management reports and meetings. Not every business needs this, but we can chat about what would work best for you.

Software training and integration support

I’m a big believer in using technology to make business life easier. If you’re not embracing the right tools, your business could end up spending more time than it needs to on manual tasks—or with reporting that’s inaccurate or incomplete. Please, no keying the same data in two different places!

I stay up to date with the latest accountancy software and developments in AI, and I work with clients to recommend tools that genuinely make a difference. Whether it’s invoicing, payments, reporting, or industry-specific systems, there’s usually a smarter, faster way to do things—and I’ll help you find it.
AI is changing the way businesses work across every sector. I’ve got a real interest in how we can use it to save time, improve decision-making, and spot opportunities sooner. It often comes up in client catch-ups—sometimes we’ll even start with a quick chat about how AI is affecting your industry and how you can make it work for you. If you’re not already exploring AI in your business, then please get in touch.
I can also help with integrating systems to streamline your bookkeeping. If you don’t invoice directly from Xero, for example, it’s important to have your sales feeding in automatically. I’ll help you choose the right system and get it connected properly.
Here are just a few of the integrations I’ve worked on recently:

  • Shopify to Xero
  • SumUp to Xero
  • A2X (Etsy, eBay, Amazon) to Xero
  • Dext to Xero
  • Cliniko to Xero (specialist for healthcare businesses)
  • Apron to Xero
  • Square to Xero
  • Xero to Float
  • Xero to Fathom

...and plenty more!
